Northern Signal is a free weekly newsletter covering artificial intelligence in Canada — the news, research, policy, and funding shaping the field from coast to coast to coast. It's published in Toronto and lands in inboxes once a week.
What we publish
- The weekly briefing — a curated digest of the Canadian AI stories that matter: company news, research milestones, government policy, and funding rounds, each linked to its original source. Every past issue is free in the archive.
- The Atlas — in-depth dossiers on the bigger forces behind the headlines: national strategy, funding rankings, and the questions that don't fit in a weekly digest. Browse them at northernsignal.ca/atlas.
How we work
Northern Signal is curated and edited by its editorial team in Toronto. Three commitments guide every issue and dossier:
- Sources, always. Claims link to primary documents and named outlets. Atlas dossiers publish their methodology, and select Atlas datasets are released under a CC BY 4.0 license so others can reuse the data.
- Canadian lens. Global AI news matters, but our beat is what it means here — for Canadian companies, researchers, and policy.
- Corrections, plainly. If we get something wrong, email us; we'll fix it and note the change. Reader trust outranks looking right.
